It is more than just fitness and activity; it encourages a complete understanding of the way our bodies move, function and contribute to social, physical and emotional well being. Dr. Rebecca Lloyd an internationally renowned expert on the growing field of Physical Literacy will speak to parents as part of the OCDSB Speaker’s Seriestomorrow–Thursday, January 29, 2015at Sir Robert Borden High School, commencing at 7 pm. Physically literate individuals consistently make healthier, more active choices that are both beneficial to body and mind. Research has shown that when individuals are physically active in their youth they are more likely to be active later in life. Dr. Lloyd will discuss strategies to get young people moving! Dr. Lloyd is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa. Her interdisciplinary research intertwines curriculum theory, phenomenology, pedagogy, motivational psychology, movement consciousness, and exercise physiology.
