You might think that on a chilly week in mid-November, Ottawa would be a quiet place. You would be wrong. Here are nearly 20 great event suggestions from our contributors.  You can add your event suggestions to the comments below.

** THEATRE: ** _ And Slowly Beauty _ is an artfully executed production, with fine set, lighting, and sound design. At the NAC until November 19 .

Taking place at the Aberdeen Pavillion starting at 7pm (doors open at 5pm), World Trivia Night sees over 150 teams of ten people each competing against each other in this huge trivia event. While the event has been sold out for some time now, it is a fundraising event for the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa so even if you can’t play, perhaps you’ll consider sponsoring one of the players or teams . (My favourite team is Team VI, but it doesn’t matter who you sponsor because the money’s going to a good cause.)

** BOOKS: ** I’m particularly looking forward to hearing my friend, Ottawa-based author (and 2011 Ottawa Book Award winner) Eric Enno Tamm speak about his adventures re-tracing the route of the last Imperial Russian spy, Gutaf Mannerheim, through Imperial Russia, Central Asia and China. Enno Tamm’s book, _ The Horse That Leaps Through Clouds: A Tale of Espionage, the Silk Road and the Rise of Modern China _ , draws parallels between modern China and China at the start of the 20th century. The presentation, sponsored by the Canada-China Friendship Society, takes place at Library and Archives Canada on Monday November 21 at 7:30pm. Entrance is $5 for non-members. More details here.

** MUSIC: ** Rich Aucoin will be in town on Wednesday, Nov. 23 at the Bronson Centre . This is a guy who once did an album that was meant to sync up with the animated version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It was amazing! You would turn off the volume of the TV special and watch the video while listening to Aucoin’s music. His tunes are great and his shows are stellar.
