Meadowlands residents remember the houses they built together when the area was farmland.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of a group of families in Nepean, mostly of young scientists in their late 20s from Radio Propagation Laboratory in Shirleys Bay, who organized themselves into a co-operative and built homes in the Meadowlands area when it was still dirt roads and farmland.

“The mail was delivered to boxes up beside Robinsons IGA. There was no bus, no McDonalds. Not even Shoppers City. It was really rural,” said Mary Shay, who moved into the house her father, John Keys, built in 1956. Read the article…
