We Day Visit at CWSS

Cairine Wilson Secondary School and We Day Corporate Sponsor Westjet Surprise 13 Thunder Bay - Winston Churchill Collegiate & Vocational Institute Students

Cairine Wilson Secondary School’s population expanded today - when 13 students were jetted from their school - Winston Churchill Collegiate & Vocational Institute in Thunder Bay to the Ottawa high school. Cairine Wilson Secondary School administrators were in on this unique opportunity related to We Day.

This morning, corporate sponsor, Westjet, surprised 13 students (and two teachers) from Winston Churchill Collegiate & Vocational Institute in Thunder Bay and flew them to Ottawa so they could participate in the National We Day Celebrations scheduled for tomorrow at the Canadian Tire Centre (April 1, 2015)

Cairine Wilson Secondary School Principal, Kevin Gilmore said, “I was delighted to be chosen to host the students from Sir Winston Churchill. We are all familiar with the “surprise campaign” run by West Jet, and in partnership with Boston Pizza and Holiday Inn, the students at CWSS will now have an amazing opportunity to share the excitement of We Day with students from Thunder Bay.”

We Day is connected to the year-long We Act program, which provides educational resources and campaigns to help youth  turn the day’s inspiration into sustained action. We Day and We Act empower young people to create the change they want to see. Students cannot buy a ticket to We Day they must earn their way there by working on one local and one global cause.
