8 June 2011 / #tourism #video VIDEO: Absurdist comedy ad campaign from Tourisme Outaouais[ ![](/legacy/00724.jpg) ](http://ottawastart.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/20110601_tourisme_1.jpg) "Because you have kids, our lakes don't have any monsters."Here are some very funny ads produced for [ Tourisme Outaouais ](http://www.tourismeoutaouais.com/) by the Gatineau agency [ Bleublancrouge-kolegram ](http://www.kolegram.com/) . (There's more info in [ this article from the Ottawa Citizen ](http://www.ottawacitizen.com/Tall+tales+from+Outaouais/4908619/story.html) , and even more from [ marketingqc.ca ](http://www.marketingqc.ca/nouvelle.php?newsno=27435) )The ads all feature a bit of absurdist humour. The french campaign slogan “«L’Outaouais : tant que vous ne viendrez pas, on vous racontera n’importe quoi.» is roughly translated as: “As long as you don’t come, we’ll tell you anything”, or maybe more accurately, “We’ll tell you anything to get you to visit.”Like this first one (en français), where we’re told that the Casino du Lac Leamy was transplanted from Las Vegas, completely disassembled and then reassembled in Gatineau:Here’s an English one, where the guide says the trains are so fast you can’t even see them as they pass by. And did you know the bike paths are so long they go all the way to Barcelona? My favourite lie to tell tourists is that the Chateau Laurier is where the Prime Minister lives. What fake facts can you make up about Ottawa landmarks?****** See also: ** Ottawa Tourism GuideIf you liked this post, please consider subscribing to our blog via email, Twitter, Facebook or RSS.
