16 December 2014 / #Champlain Bridge #HOV Update: Champlain Bridge HOV lane openThe Champlain Bridge centre lane for high occupancy vehicles (HOV) is open. In order to minimize the impact on commuters, traffic barrels will remain in place until the lane control system is functioning correctly. The barrels will continue to be adjusted to allow access to the centre HOV lane, which is open southbound in the morning and northbound in the afternoon. It is important to mention that the problem is not with the overhead signs themselves, but rather with the control systems located at the perimeter of the bridge, where the work is currently being performed. The National Capital Commission (NCC) recognizes the impact of this closure for residents. Please be assured that our contractors are working diligently to rectify the problem as quickly as possible. The NCC urges motorists to exercise caution and to respect mobile working crews and equipment, and obey signage and flag persons at the site. The NCC apologizes once again for the delays and inconvenience caused by this closure.
