Two big LRT stories in the news this week

Two major LRT-related news items this week…

The first is the LRT builder, Rideau Transit Group, achieving “substantial completion” of the Confederation Line. Final testing for 12 consecutive days is underway before the city takes over the system and it’s possible for the line to be open by September if all goes well. Trains will be running along the line in peak and off-peak frequencies, along with tests of other systems for line. It’s expected the city and builder will be hush during the test period, with no regular updates available to the public on how it’s going.

Then, on Friday, the city revealed what CBC Ottawa journalist Joanne Chianello had reported back in March: SNC-Lavalin, the engineering firm chosen to work on the Trillium Line extension, did not meet the minimum technical score. Read more at CBC Ottawa…
