Tuesday: World Record Pee Challenge for sexually-transmitted infections

_ (press release) _ Board of Health member Councillor Mathieu Fleury, Dr. Isra Levy, Medical Officer of Health and Denise Belanger, Associate Director for the University of Ottawa Health Services, will join staff from Ottawa Public Health (OPH) and University of Ottawa Health Services to encourage students to “Pee to See” and get tested for sexually-transmitted infections (STIs). Students at Ottawa’s four post-secondary campuses – University of Ottawa, Carleton University, La Cité and Algonquin College - will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most Chlamydia and gonorrhea urine tests completed within 24 hours in a single venue.

The current world record is 502 urine tests; testing is the only way to know if you have Chlamydia or gonorrhea. Most people do not experience any symptoms of these STIs and they can be cured easily with antibiotics.

The World Record Pee Challenge is a collaboration of OPH’s Sexual Health Team in partnership with University of Ottawa Health Services, Carleton University Health and Counselling Services, Clinique Médicale CSanté at La Cité and Algonquin College Health Services. ** Date: ** Tuesday, March 29 ** Time: ** noon ** Location: ** University of Ottawa, University Centre 85 University Private, ground floor (promenade)
