12 February 2015 / #book #faces That Faces Book Might Be the Ultimate Kidult TestSelf-proclaimed kidult Matt Edwards is making a book all about faces in the strangest places! Edwards has spent years taking photographs of faces in everything from door handles to hose valves, and has put them all together in That Faces Book. Edwards launched the project on crowdfunding platform Kickstarter on February 7th, hoping to raise enough money in his 30 day campaign to see That Faces Book published and printed. If you think you might be a kidult, you should check out That Faces Book to make sure. When asked about who the target audience was for his book, Edwards said “It’s for kids, it’s for adults, and it’s definitely for kidults! In fact, That Faces Book is probably the ultimate kidult test. I mean, I’m a kidult, without question, and I started taking these face photos for myself, just because it was fun and entertaining, for me personally. It wasn’t until I’d been doing it for a while that I decided to use them to make something others might enjoy. I feel like since it was born out of my own kidulthood, those who end up liking it the most are probably either kids or kidults themselves.”That Faces Book was selected as a Kickstarter Staff Pick on its opening day, and has already raised $1,310 of its $7,700 goal. In order for the project to be successful, since Kickstarter uses an all-or-nothing funding structure, it will need to reach its goal by March 9th. As to why Edwards turned to Kickstarter, he explained, “I decided to use Kickstarter for a number of reasons, but two stand out. The first, and probably most obvious reason is that I don’t have the money to realize this dream of mine on my own. The second reason is that Kickstarter is this amazing place where people come together as a kind of online community to support projects they care about collectively, and I wanted to be a part of that community with That Faces Book.”Backers of the campaign can get a digital copy of the book for only $10, with additional perks for larger pledges including a printed copy, digital download of the song Edwards wrote and performed for the campaign, a That Faces Book T-shirt, a special, signed limited edition printed copy—even a 3D That Faces Book face figurine. You can find That Faces Book on Kickstarter here: http://goo.gl/8uT2ho Follow @thatfacesbook on Twitter for more information and contests throughout the campaign!
