A good history lesson from Clifford Scott in the City Journal, about Dey’s Rink, the original home ice of the Ottawa Senators.

The first formal skating rink in Ottawa was opened in 1868. In the years between 1884 and 1927, there were three different rinks at three different locations that went by the name of “Dey’s Rinks.”

Each of the three rinks was managed by the Dey Brothers and took a turn serving as the home base of the Ottawa Hockey Club, known variously as the Ottawas, the Silver Seven and finally the Senators. Read more…
