Snowfall in forecast means city crews preparing to plow roads and sidewalks

_ (via City of Ottawa) _ City road crews will be out clearing and salting roads and sidewalks in preparation for the snowfall starting Tuesday morning.

The City of Ottawa is encouraging residents to visit the Winter Weather webpage on ottawa.ca for information on the weather, including updates on City operations and tips on what residents can do in preparation for, and during, weather events.

Here is what you can expect, and what you can do, when there is:

Two to five centimeters of snow

City crews will be deployed to salt Highway 174, the Transitway, arterial and major roads Sidewalks and cycle lanes in the downtown core will be plowed by City crews Residents are asked to exercise caution if driving, cycling or walking

Five to 15 centimeters of snow City crews will be deployed to salt Highway 174, the Transitway, arterial and major roads Sidewalks and cycle lanes in the downtown core will be plowed by City crews If we obtain seven centimeters, snow and ice will be cleared from secondary and residential roads Find out more about how the City prioritizes snow clearing Residents are asked to exercise caution if driving, cycling or walking The City will inform residents if a parking ban is placed into effect via ottawa.ca. To make the city’s sidewalks safe to walk on in the winter, the City has placed “do-it-yourself” grit boxes at various locations for residents to use. For grit box locations, visit ottawa.ca.

Service Requests Residents who require a service from the City due to the weather are encouraged to submit a service request through ServiceOttawa at ottawa.ca.

Regarding the Where Is My Plow web tool, the City has completed initial pilot testing and analyzing the feedback and is now making adjustments to the tool. As a result it will not be available for this weather event.
