Snow strikes the capital (with photos!)

Ottawa had its first serious snowfall Thursday, with several centimetres falling from the late afternoon into the night.

There had been short but sweet sprinkles of the white stuff over the capital region over the past few days, although Thursday took it a little too far.

According to Environment Canada, the snow will taper off Friday morning with a 60 per cent chance of rain into the day.

Rain continues Saturday and should clear up into decent (yet cold) trick ‘r treating weather for Halloween on Monday night.

In case you were wondering, yes, there is precedence for snow this early.
