SEARCH FOR NEW VOICE OF OTTAWA RADIO DOWN TO TOP 5

The search for the new voice of Ottawa radio started in early March, with over 160 hopefuls looking to land the “Greatest Gig On Earth” as the new co-host of JUMP! 106.9’s breakfast show. That list is now down to five.

After submitting an online video, surviving a series of grueling social media tasks, and co-hosting one morning show, the top 5 are two short weeks away from finding out who will land the coveted spot alongside current breakfast show host Tony Stark.

The top 5 includes Melissa Charles, Jaya Henderson, Jesse Reynolds, Tamara Videla and Vanessa Cote.

“We’re absolutely blown away by the quality of the entries we’ve received,” said Stark. “The remaining top 5 are true stars-in-the-making, and I have no doubt the person left standing will be a fabulous addition to Ottawa radio.”

On April 19, the top 10 finalists appeared at Bayshore Shopping Centre where they were grilled by a panel of celebrity judges, including international singer/songwriter Karl Wolf and fashion supermodel Herieth Paul. The event also included a lip-sync battle where the contestants let their true characters shine.

Those still standing will each co-host their second morning show between Monday, April 27, and

Friday, May 1

. The winner will be announced live on the air on

May 8

.

“To say these are five incredible talents would be a tremendous understatement,” said Mark Dickie, general manager of Corus Radio Ottawa. “On the air, on the street, and on social media, each has made their mark, and we couldn’t be more excited as we approach the finish line of JUMP!’s Greatest Gig on Earth.”

Listeners are encouraged to spread the word using #JUMPSGREATESTGIG. The top 5 are also blogging about their experience on www.jumpradio.ca .
