Rant of the Day: Mark Bourrie rides OC Transpo

From today’s edition of the City Journal, columnist Mark Bourrie rants about OC Transpo . A sample:

...Make the routes so complicated that, if you get on a bus on, say, Elgin Street, you’ll have no idea where you’ll end up. Maybe the General Hospital. Maybe the Glebe.

Now, once you’ve scraped together this dirty, confusing bus system, go out and hire the surliest bus drivers you can find. Put up signs on the bus saying “respect goes both ways” to toss the blame for the sullen drivers onto the shoulders of the riders.

…

Toss in some dirt and some bad poetry in both official languages, charge an arm and a leg for it, screw over retailers so no one sells bus tickets, make it completely useless on weekends, and you have OC Transpo.
