4 August 2013 / #festivals #river PHOTOS: There's a rock art festival at Remic Rapids this weekendEarlier today we were biking along the Ottawa River and stopped at Remic Rapids to check out the famous rock sculptures by John Felice Ceprano . Joining Ceprano all weekend are rock artists from around the world, taking part in BAWI International . It’s an annual festival of rock art running all weekend, including Colonel By day on Monday. If you’ve never been to Remic Rapids you should check it out this weekend. There are dozens and dozens of rock sculptures built along the shallow rocky shoreline east of the Champlain Bridge. There’s parking and easy access off of the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway (formerly Ottawa River Parkway). The artist at work in hip waders and protective gloves is Peter Ridel . As we watched a storm blew in and knocked over several of the delicately balanced pieces. Peter moved his boots to shelter under a small rock cliff, waited for the rain to pass, then started building again.Photos by Glen Gower . Click any image for full size.
