9 January 2012 / #downtown #sunset Photo of the Day: Aerial photo of a sunset over CentretownWhat an incredible, surreal photo by Chuck Clark, showing downtown Ottawa during a sunset.[ ](http://ottawastart.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/centretown-aerial-sunset.jpg)The original photo (and more from the flight) can be seen here on Flickr . I’ve republished it here with Chuck’s permission. He says:I went up to get some shots of the crane at Tribeca on Saturday and was concerned with the weather but you fly when you can. Chris (the pilot) and I went up to Wakefield to give Ottawa time to clear and this is how it ended up. The strong backlight in the fog makes it, I'm usually in the left seat so I can shoot with the window open but a slippery runway meant he had to fly left seat. That particular 172 has only one operable window and we don't take doors off in winter. I got right and the crappy closed window. Worked out as I had the sun on the correct side on the way back along the escarpment. In spite of what everyone ways the camera/lens *does* matter. I used a Nikon D700 and a 70-200 2.8 . Not bloody easy in a cramped 172 cockpit. Because of shooting through the crappyclosedwindow I've tried other cameras and lenses but the best is still the best.My pilot's wife is more eloquent than me, [ http://ariverdiary.blogspot.com/2012/01/crossing-river-by-plane.html ](http://ariverdiary.blogspot.com/2012/01/crossing-river-by-plane.html) and [ http://alisonhobbs.blogspot.com/ ](http://alisonhobbs.blogspot.com/)** See also: ** Ottawa Photography GuideIf you liked this post, please consider subscribing to our blog via email, Twitter, Facebook or RSS.
