All photos by [ Glen Gower ](http://about.me/glengower)We drove to Almonte yesterday to check out the 10th anniversary of [ Puppets Up! ](http://puppetsup.ca/) It's a charming festival in a charming town. The festival continues all day Sunday. Two recommended shows:** _ An Arabian Adventure _ by Tanglewood Marionettes **Peter Schaefer and Jenn Tebo from Massachussetts perform an enchanting show about an Arabian prince and his quest to marry a princess. This show is perfectly executed, from the marionettes to the beautifully painted sets to the sound design. A few surprises and special effects kept kids and adults enthralled. Three shows on Sunday: 11:15am, 2:45pm, 4:45pm.[ ![](/legacy/03147.jpg) ](http://ottawastart.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/20140809_113802.jpg) The Prince fights a scorpion in _ "An Arabian Adventure" _** _ Once Upon a Time… Two Feet! _ by Little Feet Theatre **Veronica Gonzales from Italy uses her hands, head, knees and feet to create a variety of characters. At the start of the show there are several old-looking suitcases on the stage. Each one contains a different story featuring puppets and props. Funny, a bit weird, very creative. Three shows on Sunday: 10:15am, 12:15pm, 3:45pm.[ ![](/legacy/03148.jpg) ](http://ottawastart.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/20140809_101749.jpg) Veronica Gonzales pulls off quite the feat with her one-person show. Here are some more photos showing some of the quirky entertainment around Almonte on Saturday. Many of these are from the daily parade that starts at 1:45pm down the main street. (The parade is free.)[ ![](/legacy/03149.jpg) ](http://ottawastart.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/20140809_140123.jpg) Sidewalks are packed for the daily parade. The clown in the foreground nearly ran me over last summer.[ ![](/legacy/03150.jpg) ](http://ottawastart.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/20140809_135838.jpg) Elvis lives in Almonte[ ![](/legacy/03151.jpg) ](http://ottawastart.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/20140809_135951.jpg) Pigs can fly[ ![](/legacy/03152.jpg) ](http://ottawastart.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/20140809_140259.jpg) A friendly and camera-loving dragon[ ![](/legacy/03153.jpg) ](http://ottawastart.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/20140809_140319.jpg) Flying car![ ![](/legacy/03154.jpg) ](http://ottawastart.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/20140809_142627.jpg) David Smith Marionettes[ ![](/legacy/03155.jpg) ](http://ottawastart.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/20140809_142948.jpg) One of several street performance areas.
