Once you’ve finished shovelling after this week’s storm, here are some great event ideas for this week in Ottawa.

This humble little club which has persevered in Ottawa still continues to be a beacon for incredible performers and audiences. The week-long party brings together bands, DJs and some of our DJ alumnae to celebrate this legendary people-space.

** GARDENING: ** March 3rd is “ Seedy Saturday ”—but it’s not what you think. It’s Ottawa’s annual seed exchange and sale, with organic seeds, an organic “mini-market” and gardening workshops. It’s never too early to think about spring, so check it out between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre, Britannia Park, 105 Greenview Ave.

** RV: ** Carrying on in the whole outdoors theme that my last couple of picks have had is the 19th Annual Ottawa Spring RV Show . Taking place at the CE Centre this Friday to Sunday, the show features many RV dealers along with other RV-related exhibitors including a number of campgrounds. If you’re in the market for an RV or just want to learn more, this is the show for you. Admission is $12 for those who are 19 years or older, while teens and children are admitted free. There is a discount coupon available on their website ( www.OttawaRVShow.com ) and don’t forget to print a copy of the ballot for the draw for prizes from their sponsors.

** MUSEUMS: ** A new exhibit opens at the Canadian Museum of Nature on Friday, called Whales Tohora . Continues until September 3. “An internationally acclaimed exhibition from New Zealand that brings the world of whales to life through interactive science and unique cultural storytelling.”

** MUSICAL RIDE: ** The RCMP holds their annual Musical Ride Open House on Saturday, March 3. Featuring stable tours, demonstrations, carriage rides and more. Bring a donation for the Food Bank.

** FOOD: ** Winter has returned. Would you be interested in something to warm the belly? How about soup? How about a handmade bowl to eat it in? May we suggest attending this year’s Great Bowls of Fire benefit for the Ottawa Food Bank at the Glebe Community Centre (corner of Lyon Street and Third Avenue)? Starting at 5:30 pm, attendees will choose a bowl made by the Ottawa Guild’s Potters. Bowls will be filled with soup from restaurants like Il Primo Ristorante, Restaurant E18teen, Absinthe Café, Allium, Town Restaurant, and Stone Soup Foodworks. Bakeries like ACE, Rideau, and Trillium will offer bread. There will be live music. There will be coffee. At $35/person you get a souvenir, you get an early supper, and you support a good cause.

** KIDS: ** The Canada Agriculture Museum launches a new spring season with its annual Barnyard Break . Take in a wide variety of demonstrations fromButter Making and Tasting to Cooking with Maple Syrup. What’s more, this March there will be a number of calves in need of naming, so visitors are invited to offer their suggestions. Children can get creative and keep themselves busy with a winter-themed craft. Ongoing at the Canada Agriculture Museum, 861 Prince of Wales Drive.
