** ** Friday, March 29: Sigur Ros at Scotiabank Place **

A few months ago, my mom called me and asked if I had ever heard of Sigur Ros. Absolutely I know them, but how in the heck did she hear about them? Turns out a young musician friend had sent her some videos and my mom fell in love with the music. And for good reason. This Icelandic group makes beautiful, atmospheric music and their live shows are legendary. So, I did what any good son would do and bought tickets for my mom’s birthday. I’m going to see Sigur Ros at Scotiabank Place on Friday with my mom. What are you doing? Check this live performance last month in Paris . Or, if you’re a fan of Shia LeBoeuf, check the video he did with the band. It’s NSFW, so wait until you get home.

What better way to celebrate spring than a visit to a sugar bush? You’ll be outside, plus you’ll get to taste the local bounty of maple syrup. There are several sugar bushes near Ottawa and Gatineau; check in advance for what services they offer–including meals, children’s activities, walking trails and/or horse-drawn rides–and to make reservations.

** ** Friday, March 29 through Monday, April 1: Easter on the Farm **

Come celebrate spring’s arrival at the Canada Agriculture Museum this Easter weekend! After a long winter, the barns have come alive with the arrival of new-born animals. Come welcome the soft little lambs, marvel at the rabbits’ silky fur and observe the fluffy newly-hatched chicks from up close. Visitors can help make a variety of Easter breads and taste a delicious sample. What’s more, the annual egg hunt is on again – children 6 years-old and younger can participate in the hunt for tots while older children can take on the challenge of hunting for the “signs of spring” throughout.
