_ Here’s our crowdsourced list of the best events in Ottawa this week. _

** Thursday, July 3: “Happiness At Work” (Hub Ottawa’s Brown Bag Lunch Series) ** Take one hour out of one week to help make all hours of all other weeks more enjoyable! (How can you resist that pitch?) This interactive session, based on positive psychology and neuroscience (ie: real stuff), promises to empower participants with the ability to take better control of their happiness at work and in the rest of their lives. Come out to learn, reflect, chat, and feel better, dammit!

** ** Thursday-Friday, July 3-4: Jane Bunnett & Maqueque at GigSpace ** For decades, Toronto saxophonist Jane Bunnett has been playing and promoting Cuban music, and mentoring many well-known Cuban jazz musicians. But they’ve all been men – until now. Maqueque is a group of five Cuban women musicians, who, plus Jane, play strong, vibrant rhythms, with tight vocal harmonies above. It’s summery music, and perfect for our current warm weather! Their melodies will enliven the intimate hall at GigSpace on Thursday and Friday nights (two shows each night).

** ** Friday-Sunday, July 4-6: ** Sabstock 2014

As I stride through this wonderful experience known as life, there are at least two basic truths I have come to learn. Rock’n’roll: good. Camping: good. Come get all the truth you can handle at Sabstock 2014! Having made a career from blasting faces off in Northern Ontario, Peter “Sab” Sabourin is now making his mark in Eastern Ontario (in part) with this annual music festival. Grab your gear, grab your beer, and head up to this party in Pembroke! (Disclaimer: I am from Kirkland Lake and it would be disrespectful for me to not promote anything touched by Sab.)
