Thursday at the The Prescott, doors open 6pm.   Event management students of Algonquin College are presenting this one to raise funds for Children’s Wish. There’s an Italian buffet (think square pizza, meatball sandwitch) followed by the best of the Yuk Yuk’s comedians, hosted by Race from Hot 89.9.

** Thursday, June 14: GRANITO: How to Nail a Dictator

** This is a documentary about the fight for justice in Guatemala. Following the screening, a panel discussion—featuring Pamela Yates (filmmaker), Jayne Stoyles (Executive Director of Candian Centre for International Justice) and Maria Cuc Choc (Mayan activist)—will examine women’s access to justice in Guatemala. CBC’s Lucy van Oldenbarneveld will moderate the discussion.

It’s not as often you get to hear male jazz vocalists, but this week you catch hear two of them together. This week, Peter Liu and Floyd Hutchinson sing together for the first time, backed by a solid rhythm section - and tasty food and drink.

** Friday, June 15 - Sunday, June 17: Ottawa Ferrari Festival **

For all the Ottawa Carspotters out there, head down to Preston Street on the weekend to see cars on display all weekend. On Saturday afternoon there’s a car parade, and they’ll be shutting down part of Carling Avenue and showing off the speed of the cars. Plus fireworks at 10pm.  (Check out Italian Week while you’re down there.)

** When local singer-songwriter Amanda Cottreau sends out a message–“Naked Naked Naked”–I sit up and take notice. From 5 pm until 2 am this Saturday, come and take part in an evening of arts and entertainment from local artists, dancers, poets, and performers at Patrick John Mills Contemporary Fine Art Gallery (286 Hinchey Avenue). Tickets are $20 at the door: a bargain, considering the evening that is in store and the open bar. Amanda is performing from 11 pm to midnight: no telling what her attire will be!

** Saturday, June 16 - Sunday, June 17: [ Capital Food Blitz

](http://ottawafoodbank.ca/2012/06/captial-food-blitz-food-drive/) ** Support the Ottawa Food Bank this weekend! Volunteers will be at grocery stores across the capital between 10am and 2pm on Saturday and Sunday, collecting donations of non-perishable food items to help support the 45,000 people who rely on the Ottawa Food Bank each month.  A list of participating stores and more information is available here .

** Sunday, June 17: Missiles, Gadgets, and Defence Lines **

If you’re looking for something to do with your dad on Father’s Day, you might want to take him to the Diefenbunker in Carp where volunteers from the Swords to Ploughshares Museum will be showing off their heavy-duty M41 5 ton 6x6 artillery tractor and their nuclear capable 155mm M114A1 (C1) Howitzer. The Diefenbunker staff will be offering special military history tours every hour on the hour from 11am to 4pm, with the last tour starting at 2pm. The event is included in the regular admission to the museum and if you are a member then you get in for free.

** Wednesday, June 20: [ Talk, music and art for World Refugee Day 2012

](http://www.unhcr.ca/wrd/events-canada.htm) ** To celebrate the courage and contributions of refugees, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees-Canada will host a talk by the _ Ottawa Citizen _ ’s Louisa Taylor and music by several local musicians from 10 a.m.-noon at the NAC Fourth Stage. That same evening, there’ll be an art exhibition called _ New Eyes, New Visions _ at the GCTC (1233 Wellington St. W.) and Alpha Soul Café (1015 Wellington St. W.) from 7-10 p.m.
