Ottawa's newest newspaper: City Journal

Ottawa has a new weekly newspaper, called the City Journal . It’s billed as “Ottawa’s Urban Newsweekly”, and published by Transcontinental, the same company that puts out the Ottawa Business Journal .

We haven’t seen the paper version yet, but we’ve been reading the articles online via the handy RSS feed. So far they’ve provided a steady diet of local news, delivered in small, but frequent bites.

** " ** City Journal will be published every Wednesday with a total circulation of 33,000 copies. This tabloid-sized weekly will be circulated through three channels – 27,000 through the Ottawa Citizen and its flyer distribution company, 5,000 through a network of street boxes and approximately 1,000 hand-delivered to downtown businesses.

City Journal will target the city’s urban core as defined by Preston Street in the west, the Ottawa River in the north and the Rideau River in the south and east. This urban area includes the communities of the Glebe, Old Ottawa South, Old Ottawa East, Centretown, Sandy Hill, Lowertown and Little Italy.

City Journal’s editorial team produces timely and compelling content that appeals to the newspaper’s urban audience. The newspaper will focus on local politics, development, crime, environment, transportation, arts and entertainment, business and education with a special focus on the people who call downtown home.
