Ottawa-Vanier MPP named as parliamentary assistant

_ (press release) _ Premier Kathleen Wynne has named MPP Nathalie Des Rosiers Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Housing and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister Responsible for Women’s Issues.

Des Rosiers will support the work of the Minister of Housing in such areas as the transformation of Ontario’s housing system into one that is people-centred, partnership-based and responsive to local needs.

She will also support the work of the Minister Responsible for Women’s Issues in protecting women from violence, supporting women’s economic empowerment and ensuring more women have the opportunity to reach leadership positions.

 Parliamentary Assistants support ministers with legislative and committee matters, work with community partners and industry groups, and undertake special projects.

 There are now 24 Parliamentary Assistants in the Ontario government.

 MPP Nathalie Des Rosiers was elected to represent Ottawa-Vanier on November 17, 2016.

  * 
 Prior to her election, Des Rosiers was a Dean and Full Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa. She is a former General Counsel to the Canadian Civil Liberties Association and is a recipient of the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario.
