Where to watch fireworks on New Year's Eve in Ottawa (2019)

How do you want to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Ottawa? With friends and family? With your kids? A formal black tie event? Dancing and champagne? If you want to ring in 2019 with a bang, here’s a few places where you can see fireworks.

  • There is typically a fireworks display on Parliament Hill at midnight, although it doesn’t appear one is planned this year. The Department of Canadian Heritage says on their website that the Magical Winter Lights multimedia show will repeat throughout the night, projected onto the Parliament Buildings, until 11:59 p.m.

  • Lansdowne Park: Fireworks as part of Hogman-eh! at midnight, right after Auld Lang Syne.

  • Nepean: The annual alcohol-free family event at Ben Franklin Place (the old Nepean City Hall) in Centrepointe. The fireworks start at 10:00pm so you can get your kids home early for bed.

  • There are no fireworks this year on Sparks Street, or any other event programming for that matter.
