Ottawa Folklore Centre offers summer camps for kids who love music

](http://www.ottawafolklore.com/summercamp/) The Ottawa Folklore Centre, located on Bank Street in Old Ottawa South, has a full line-up of summer camps this summer for kids who love making music. ** Movin’ and Groovin’ With Connor is aimed at kids ages 5-8. ** Your kids will sing songs and play instruments from around the world interspersed with trips to the local park, movie times, and other activities. Lead by Connor McGuire (a fun loving musician and young-at-heart dad), this camp is designed to engage children with music in and energetic and creative atmosphere.

With an accent on FUN kids will learn to create, perform and move to music in a group setting. No matter what their musical background, participants will be introduced to new and exciting musical concepts every day that will be explored in fun and innovative ways.

They’ll be rocking out on electric guitars, strumming ukuleles, banging drums and honking on horns. From blues to Baroque we’ve got it covered! (Instruments are provided by the Ottawa Folklore Centre.) The best part? The camp will culminate in a super eclectic musical round up concert extravaganza put on by the children for their parents and families! ** Partnership Summer Programs with OSCA ** The Ottawa Folklore Centre is also offering several camps in partnership with the Ottawa South Community Association (OSCA): ** **

 Ukulele Camp:
**
Come jam with other up and coming and brand new Ukulele players. From beginners to those who have played a bit, this camp features a little something for all skill levels. After a morning of music lessons there will be a variety of recreation activities at the Old Firehall. (Ukuleles provided for camp use.)

 Guitar Camp:
**
Guitar Camp is offered with one of the Ottawa Folklore Centre’s professional instructors. Designed for students who have never played a musical instrument, participants will learn basic skills and techniques of guitar playing plus tuning and instrument care. The afternoon will feature a variety of recreation activities at the Old Firehall. (Guitars provided for camp use.)

 Glee Club Camp:

Come and be a part of creating an original collaboration, fully rehearsed and decked out music and dance number for your family and friends! These classes will include choreography, singing, performance technique and theatre games. Be sure to bring proper footwear (dance or indoor shoes), comfortable clothing to move in, nourishing snacks and plenty of water! Afternoons will feature a variety of recreation activities at the Old Firehall.

 Jam Band Camp:

Always wanted to play with others but maybe didn’t know how to get started? Come jam with your peers, learn from each other, develop friendships, train your ear and grow your repertoire of songs. Great fun as you learn basic chords and transitions and develop charts for simple songs and learn to listen to each other.

 Basic notation / music reading skills and performing ability on your instrument IS required.

Instruments: guitars, strings, winds, brass, drums, percussion, keyboard. (Drum kit, amps, keyboard and sound system provided.)
