Big secrets. **OTTAWA – Local filmmakers, Claudia Jurt, Olivier Surprenant & Peter Jurt are competing for $1 Million in financing and screenings at Cineplex Cinemas across Canada with their feature film concept, EDITH. EDITH is a psychological horror-thriller about a small town in which seven children all go missing in one night. Twenty years later, it happens again. The upcoming film is the only entry from Ottawa that made it to the TOP 30 in CineCoup’s film accelerator contest.**ABOUT THE COMPETITION **The CineCoup contest is a film funding competition where Canadian filmmakers market their projects with concept trailers and other missions supported by the public. The team has put out content every week and EDITH has been amidst the top ten to twenty since the start of this nationwide competition. Filming will begin in the Ottawa area as soon as financing is secured, hiring as much local talent as possible. Call in the Giants, the team’s production company, would like to see Ottawa continue to build and sustain an industry of homegrown films.Over 12 weeks, participants advance through CineCoup’s social web platform and three voting periods (TOP 60/30/15). EDITH has made it into the TOP 30. To make it to the TOP 15, the next step of the CineCoup competition involves a hype video. In order to advance to this round, team EDITH seeks support from the public. She also founded Ottawa Casting, the Capital’s original casting company.
