Ottawa 2017 invites mega concert producers to amp-up the celebrations of Canada’s 150th birthday with YOWttawa

_ (press release) _ The Ottawa 2017 Bureau and Mayor Jim Watson, in collaboration with lead partner CIBC, today launched a call to concert producers to submit proposals for a two-day large-scale ticketed contemporary music event in the nation’s capital for the celebrations of Canada’s 150

th

anniversary.

 

YOWttawa, an Ottawa 2017 Signature Event, will take place at a yet-to-be-announced outdoor location in the city during the summer of 2017.The world-class music event will feature national and international entertainment of the highest calibre as a tribute to Canada’s history and diversity.

 

“One of our goals with this particular Signature Event is to reinforce Ottawa’s reputation in the live entertainment industry as an exciting and viable concert market,” said Mayor Jim Watson. “YOWttawa will provide an exhilarating experience to spectators while bringing worldwide attention to Ottawa as a modern and inspiring city.”

 

YOWttawa will have multiple stages and feature contemporary Aboriginal and Canadian music artists, as well as international talent from four nations who contributed so much to the making of Canada: France, England, Scotland and Ireland.

 

“Ottawa 2017’s guiding principles are to offer big, bold, larger-than-life experiences that promote the entire community’s participation,” said Guy Laflamme, Executive Director of the Ottawa 2017 Bureau. “This Signature Event will bring even more star power to the Ottawa 2017 celebrations, contributing to the city’s international profile and creating a wow factor that will electrify the everyday of participants.”

 

This open call for pre-qualification of concert producers is the first part of a two-phase process that will identify three qualified firms who will be invited to submit a proposal for turn-key concert production services including artistic direction, event management, production design, and budget oversight.
