19 May 2006OPP posts unsolved crime photos, asks public for helpI’ve been suggesting for a long time that police should harness the participatory power of the internet to help solve crimes. Now, the Ontario Provincial Police have done just that:The Ontario Provincial Police and the Office of the Chief Coroner for the Province of Ontario have partnered to form the Missing Persons and Unidentified Bodies/Remains Unit.This unit is dedicated to ensuring cases of Missing Persons and Unidentified Bodies/Remains are:Receiving maximum public exposureContinually updated and/or analyzedSupported with current available technologyThe Missing Persons and Unidentified Bodies/Remains Unit has established this website to support these investigations by providing public exposure in the hope that members of the general public can provide information as to the whereabouts or identity of these persons.They’ve set up a section on the O.P.P. web site where you can view photos from unsolved crimes, and send in tips if you think you have information.Related: Ottawa Services Guide
