The Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police along with the Ministry of Transportation are launching a pilot project to reduce pedestrians soliciting along Highway 417.

The Ottawa OPP, in collaboration with the MTO, have created a new sign that will be placed on designated off ramps of Highway 417.  These signs will have the message: “Panhandling Not Permitted”.

Highway safety is an important concern and motorists are urged not to donate while on the roadway.  Donations of funds, clothing or volunteer time are greatly encouraged through our community.

The Ottawa OPP will be launching this project on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 10:00 am.  The launch will be held at the Ottawa OPP Detachment at 1921 Provincial Police Lane.
