GUEST POST: Local radio plays musical chairs with hosts as new ratings period begins

This is what has happened in Ottawa radioland this week, and there might be a few more changes still to come. The spring Numeris (formerly BBM) ratings book starts next Monday. Hence, some tweeks and twerks on the airwaves.

New Country 94: Country 101 morning co-host Marianne (Ivison) has jumped to upstart rival New Country 94 (she’ll be the new afternoon host), and as a result, Country 101 and morning host program Director Joël Lamoureux have parted ways.

Sophie (Moroz) joins Ryan (Lindsay) on the new morning show. Sophie started last week, joining Ryan, who was hired in early December after Bob-FM was disbanded.

I expect more announcements from New Country 94 soon (next week). Full announcer line-up should be in place next week.

Jewel 98.5: Longtime morning host Bob Derro and JEWEL 98.5 have parted company. The Jewel’s new morning show is now Codi (Jeffreys) and Nida (Drake). Jeffreys was laid off from 93.9 BobFM three months ago (when the station flipped to New Country 94).

BOOM 99.7: The Boom 99.7 morning show with Pete (Marier) and Wendy (Daniels) has been shuffled out. Starting today, Pete is doing PM Drive and Wendy is on middays. The Shock and Sharkey Show (Tom Schoch and Sandy Sharkey) now airs weekdays from 5:30-9am. The new-look line-up looks like this after a shuffle…. (no one leaves, one new hire)

Boom’s NEW 99.7 line-up

  • Shock and Sharkey Show 5:30-9am
  • Wendy Daniels 9-2 middays (previously on mornings)
  • Pete Marier 2-7om afternoon drive (previously on mornings)
  • Heather Ray 7-11pm weeknights (former middays)
  • New hire Jon Gonzo Mark 10am-3pm Sat. and Sun.
  • Dylan Black 3-7pm Sat. and Sun.

580 CFRA: Announced this week…. Lowell Green will return on Monday (March 2). He’s been off air since November (vacation), went to doctor upon his return, and subsequently, in December, had open heart surgery…
