New OC Transpo Park and Ride at Scotiabank Place opens January 9

Received this email today from Shad Qadri, the City Councillor for Stittsville:

 Dear Residents,
I wanted to share some good news with the community after working on the Scotia Bank Park & Ride program for some time. I’m very pleased to see this come to fruition and can tell you that this Park & Ride will be operational on January 9

 th

, 2012. I encourage you to make use of this new Park & Ride as it will provide better transportation service for our community and alleviate traffic on the Eagleson Park & Ride. Located in the Scotia Bank north parking lot, 100 parking spaces will be available for transit commuters between approximately 5:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The lot will be served by ten trips on Express Routes 261 and 263, on request, with direct rush hour service to downtown.
The “on request” service operates via a signal. Customers press the call button on the request stop pole located on the Scotiabank transit terminal platform. This will send a signal to the next bus to serve the Park & Ride lot. The green light near the top of the pole will light up to let you know the signal is working. For the return trip home, simply ring the bell once the bus exits the 417.
