Media Club of Ottawa Presents Awards to Journalism Students

, Rachel Lindgren,  a fourth-year journalism student at Carleton University will become  the 99th journalism or communications student to receive a Margaret Graham Award from the Media Club of Ottawa at the Club’s Christmas Social.  On November 16, the Media Club presented a Margaret Graham award to Algonquin College journalism student Amelia Buchanan during a monthly club meeting.   Rachel and Amelia will  join the ranks of such Margaret Graham Award alumni as Donna Tranquada and Lynn Saxberg.

Rachel, who is studying human rights and journalism at Carleton University, is originally from Wolfe Island, a small community located at the entrance of the St. Lawrence River in Lake Ontario. After completing her studies at the university she hopes to pursue a Master’s degree in peace and conflict studies at the University of Otago in New Zealand.

Amelia, a recent convert to journalism, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Ottawa and this year is editor of the Algonquin College newspaper, the Algonquin Times
