Kids Activities

Looking for something to do with your kids during March Break or on a PD Day? Here are some ideas for some great family activities in Ottawa.

  • Maple syrup: What a wonderful coincidence that March Break falls right at the height of maple syrup season. Here’s a list of local sugarbushes near Ottawa, with many offering special programming on the weekends and during the March Break.

  • Winter activities: Winter’s not over yet! Although the Rideau Canal is closed for the season as of March 10, there’s still plenty of other outdoor skating rinks open, including at City Hall and Lansdowne Park, just to name a few. Here’s a list of rinks. As long as the snow lasts, it could be a decent week for tobogganing. Or maybe try skiing or snowshoeing?

  • Museums: Check out the Canadian Museum of Science and Technology near St. Laurent Boulevard. The Museum of Nature is also a favourite. But they’re just two of dozens of national and local museums in and around our city. You can see a list of them all here…

  • Libraries: The good folks at the Ottawa Public Library have tons of events happening this March Break. Check them all out here…

  • Movies: Many cinemas are adding extra showings during the March Break. Tip: go to a morning matinee to save some cash, or check out Imagine Cinema at St. Laurent Shopping Centre for the best prices. Here’s a map of movie theatres…
