Kids Activities

Looking for something to do with your kids during March Break or on a PD Day? Here are some ideas for some great family activities in Ottawa. ** Maple syrup ** What a wonderful coincidence that March Break falls right at the height of maple syrup season.  Here’s a list of local sugarbushes near Ottawa, with many offering special programming on the weekends and during the March Break. ** Winter activities ** Skating on the Rideau Canal may be a distant memory, but there are still outdoor skating rinks open at City Hall and Lansdowne Park. Here’s a list of rinks. As long as the snow lasts, it could be a decent week for tobogganing. Or maybe try skiing or snowshoeing? ** **

**Museums ** Check out the Canadian Museum of Science & Technology near St. Laurent Boulevard. The Museum of Nature is also a favourite. But they’re just two of dozens of national and local museums in & around our city. ** Libraries ** The librarians at the Ottawa Public Library have gone above and beyond this year with a really interesting and eclectic schedule of event activities for March Break, from Lego building to ukelele lessons to sushi-making workshops. See more on our books and libraries guide. ** Movies ** Many cinemas are adding extra showings during the March Break. Tip: go to a morning matinee to save some cash, or check out Imagine Cinema at St. Laurent Shopping Centre for the best prices. Here’s a map of movie theatres.
