Mandela Legacy Awards and Black History Month Gala postponed to March 19

_ (press release) _ Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Black History Month Gala and Mandela Legacy Awards slated to be held at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, QC, have been temporarily postponed by a month.

The new date for the event, which will celebrate the work of inspiring leaders, athletes, entertainers and social justice activists, is Saturday, March 19, 2016. It will be held at the Canadian Museum of History, as planned.

“My family is thrilled to be part of the Black History Month Gala in Canada. We are happy to be back in Ottawa and to stand on the stage where my grandfather received his honorary Canadian citizenship 15 years ago,” says Zondwa Mandela, grandson to the late Nelson Mandela and co-founder of the Mandela Legacy Foundation.

“These awards, on March 19

are about celebrating empowerment, celebrating the values my grandfather stood for and celebrating the men and women who believe, as we do, that it is only through working together that people—all people—will achieve greatness,” he adds.
