Last call for the Rochester Pub

The Rochester Pub in Little Italy closes for good this weekend. Over on their Facebook page , regulars are lamenting the loss of a favourite gathering place.

“Last ever breakfast at the Rochester Pub. So many memories at that old maroon house. Nothing will ever beat a night of hot sweaty dancing at Kitchen Party followed by a greasy breakfast the next day. It’s the end of an era for sure. So long and thanks for all the good times,” wrote Arturo Turo last Sunday. CBC Ottawa talked to owner Simeon Yaremko on Saturday: “This business is always up and down. Part of our problem has always been that we’ve had a loyal group of customers for the past 10 years and they’re all buying houses and having babies. We’re not getting a younger crowd coming in to replace the ones that are now $400,000 in debt.”
