4 January 2012 / #hockey It's voting day in Ottawa (for hockey fans at least)[ ![](/legacy/01166.jpg) ](http://ottawastart.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/AiQfaxDCAAMd-W.jpg) The [ 2012 NHL All-Star Game ](http://ottawastart.com/nhl-allstar-2012.php) logo was added to centre ice at Scotiabank Place on Tuesday. From the [ Ottawa Senators Twitter feed ](http://twitter.com/nhl_sens) . You probably saw a lot of local politicians tweeting and talking this week about [ a very important election ](http://senators.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=609708&navid=DL%7COTT%7Chome) : the vote for the starting line-up for the 2012 NHL All-Star game in Ottawa.Fans across North America and around the world can go to ** nhl.com/vote ** and pick their favourite hockey players to be in the starting line-up at the game, coming up on January 29 at Scotiabank Place. The top three forwards, top two defensemen and top goalie each get an automatic spot in the line-up.There are five Ottawa players on the ballot: Alfredsson, Gonchar, Karlsson, Michalek and Spezza. As of last week, at least three of the players (Alfie, Spezza, Karlsson) were holding onto top spots, with Michalek and Gonchar not far behind .But Ottawa has one of the smallest population bases in the NHL, so we’re up against some tough competition. Every other city wants to see their players represented too. So that’s why so many people in our city are urging Sens fans to get online and vote. (You can vote multiple times - 30 times each via mobile, txt and web - for a total of 90 times total.)I’d hate to see a starting line-up full of Leafs, Bruins and Penguins. I want to see as many Sens as possible on the ice for the All-Star Game. I’ve voted 90 times, and I hope you will too. Please visit ** nhl.com/vote ** , and tell your friends to do the same. Polls close tonight at 11:59pm and results will be announced on Thursday.** See also: ** 2012 NHL All-Star Game GuideIf you liked this post, please consider subscribing to our blog via email, Twitter, Facebook or RSS.
