8 December 2014 / #417 #queensway Highway 417 construction moves to winter operationsConstruction of the Highway 417 Expansion project will continue over the winter months, however motorists and transit users can expect reduced traffic impacts.Off-peak lane reductions will continue in both directions between Metcalfe Street and the Highway 417/174 split along with occasional full closures on weeknights for 15-minute intervals between 1 and 4 a.m.Motorists can anticipate overnight ramp closures (between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.) along this corridor.Winter construction is heavily dependent on the weather. Motorists should plan ahead and check their route with the up-to-the-minute information available on the Travel and Mobility webpage or the Ottawa NAV mobile app.The Highway 417 expansion project, which began in May 2013, will add an additional lane in each direction between Nicholas Street and the Split. This additional lane will be used for bus rapid transit during the 2015 to 2018 phase of the Confederation Line construction.
