20 January 2019 / #news #donate blood Here's where you can give blood this weekPhoto via Pixabay/under a reuse licence. The other day a reader asked us if there was any urgent call for blood donations in Ottawa, on account of the tragic bus crash on Jan. 11.We asked Canada Blood Services on Friday and Glenna Gosewich, donor relations territory manager, got back to us: “As we all receive updates on the victims of the crash, our hearts go out to those affected. While a large number of units was used to treat the patients at local hospitals, our inventory remains strong, in large part due to the fact that we have been collecting on or ahead of target at our donor centres in Ottawa since [Jan. 11].”“While there is enough blood on the shelves to meet patients’ needs today, the accident that took place a week ago today reminds us that things can change in an instant - regular donations throughout the year enable us to respond to an emergency immediately.”So with that, here’s a list of upcoming blood donation clinics that Gosewich provided. You can book an appointment for any of these clinics at blood.ca, via the GiveBlood app or by calling 1-888-2DONATE.Ottawa Donor Centre – 1575 Carling Avenue – open six days every week:Monday – 8:30 am – 12:30 pmTuesday – 3:30 pm – 7:30 pmWednesday – 3:30 pm – 7:30 pmThursday – 10:00 am – 4:00 pmFriday – 8:30 am – 12:30 pmSaturday – 9:00 am – 1:00 pmCarleton University – Residence Commons BuildingMonday, January 21st12:30 pm – 6:30 pmRichcraft Recreation Complex – 4101 Innovation DriveTuesday, January 22nd9:00 am – 11:00 am and 12:00 pm – 3:00 pmManotick United Church – 5567 Manotick Main StreetWednesday, January 23rd1:00 pm – 7:00 pmBonnechere Manor - 470 Albert St, RenfrewThursday, January 24th1:00 pm – 7:00 pmOttawa City Hall – 110 Laurier Avenue WestFriday, January 25th9:00 am – 1:00 pmSt. James Anglican Church – 225 Edmund, Carleton PlaceSaturday, January 26th10:00 am – 2:00 pm
