Here's a look at the city's new meeting agenda portal

The city is working on replacing its clunky e-agenda system and you can now take a look at what will replace it.

The current system, SIRE, was adopted around 2011 and hosts all agendas, minutes, supporting materials and recordings for city meetings. It’s a common bookmark item for city hall nerds. It’s also notoriously slow and not very nice to use.

I took a quick look at the new portal and have to say it looks like it will be a major improvement. Pages load quicker, it’s easier to find a past meeting and – best part – past council meetings now have links in their agenda/minutes which you can click to watch a particular item on the video recording. I’m sure city hall reporters are going to be able to find quotes a lot easier now.

One drawback is it doesn’t seem to be mobile-friendly. Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
