City seeks sponsors for Canada 150 celebrations in Ottawa

The City of Ottawa is seeking local, national and international companies as sponsoring partners for the 150

th

anniversary celebrations of Canada’s Confederation in 2017.

The City’s Ottawa 2017 Bureau has posted a notice on MERX, the government procurement system, to ensure fairness and transparency for the sponsorship process.

The nation’s capital will be the main stage for Canada’s 150

th

birthday in 2017, with more than 11 million visitors and residents expected to take part in the year-long celebrations. A dynamic series of celebrations throughout the 150th-anniversary year is being planned, including one-of-a-kind events of international calibre. The City estimates that visitors will spend $320 million during the year.

A number of sponsorship and partnership opportunities are available for companies with a cash or in-kind investment, or a combination of both. At the lead partner level, the Ottawa 2017 Bureau is looking to secure three to four companies that would be tied to all events and programs starting in 2015, leading up to the full year celebrations in 2017, and continuing into early 2018.
