Celebrate National Aboriginal Day at the Summer Solstice Aboriginal Festival

Celebrate ** National Aboriginal Day ** with 3 days of FREE family fun in Ottawa’s Vincent Massey Park at the ** Summer Solstice Aboriginal Festival & Competition Pow Wow , June 19-21. ** With a great lineup of entertainment throughout the weekend, guests will experience and celebrate the diverse Aboriginal cultures of the National Capital Region.

The International Competition Pow Wow attracts hundreds of singers and dancers from across North America for a vibrant and lively display of our living culture including the new Hoop Dance competition. Grand Entries take place Friday through Sunday at 12noon and 6pm.

The Family Fun Zone with Sports themed activities for the kids including Jumpaï – Bungee Trampoline and inflatables galore, Bubble Soccer, Hoop Head- a strolling stilt walking basketball comedian, and “Endangered Ontario” Show with Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo and much much more!

New to this year’s festival is the family friendly Medicine Wheel Colour Run for all ages and abilities. Participants can choose to run in the Children’s 1K, or the Adult 5K or 10K with proceeds benefitting the Odawa Homeless Drop-In Centre here in Ottawa.

With non-stop cultural programming and family friendly main stage performances with artists such as DJ Shub (formally of Tribe Called Red), Nelson Tagoona, Prairie Fire Jiggers & Inuit Throat singers, Kaha:wi Native Dance (family theatre), Aboriginal Canada We’ve Got talent, Metis hypnotist Scott Ward and an evening spectacle of music, dance and pyrotechnics featuring an Aztec Fire Dance group from Mexico, there is something for everyone at this year’s festival!
