Carleton Heights Public School’s Official Re-opening will be unveiled to the public this evening as students and staff welcome families and the greater community to their newly refurbished elementary school. The school is located 1660 Prince of Wales Drive.

The remodeled facility is completely accessible and includes an elevator to ensure that all students can actively participate in events held through the building. Principal Canham says “Student success and well-being are the most important focus at Carleton Heights and offering a fully accessible building provides many opportunities for our students to reach high levels of achievement in all areas of school life.” The library has also been revamped and revitalized.

There is a new main facade on Prince of Wales Drive giving the school enhanced curb appeal. Carleton Heights is an active school within an established vibrant and caring community. In close proximity are the Carleton Heights Community Centre, the Carleton Heights Curling Club and the Ottawa Boys and Girls Club. In addition, the school also houses a Parent and Family Literacy Centre and the Andrew Fleck Child Care Services provides the Extended Day Program.

School Principal, Andrew Canham says the bustling school of nearly 300 students celebrates the diversity within the school community and continuously seeks ways to strengthen their connections outside the school. The students come from over 26 different countries and bring a rich cultural and linguistic diversity to the school.
