Canadian War Museum welcomes Raytheon sponsorship of International Speaker Series

_ (via Canadian War Museum) _ The Canadian War Museum is pleased to welcome Raytheon as a sponsor of the Museum’s World at War – International Speaker Series for 2015–2016.

World at War – International Speaker Series is part of the Museum’s First World War Centenary programming. Featuring leading Canadian and international experts, the series provides audiences with opportunities to learn about the war’s national and global reach, its cost and its legacies, from multiple perspectives. “The Canadian War Museum thanks Raytheon for its generous support of this important and popular initiative,” said Stephen Quick, the Museum’s Director General. “Through its sponsorship, Raytheon is helping the Museum enhance public understanding of one of the most tragic and transformative chapters in Canadian and world history.”

“As an education advocate, Raytheon values this opportunity for all to learn about an important period of Canadian history,” said Mark Nicol, President, Raytheon International Inc, Canada. “We’re proud to support the Canadian War Museum’s speaker series.”

The Museum initiated its World at War – International Speaker Series in 2014. Individual events are presented in a variety of formats, including lectures, debates and panel discussions. Events scheduled for 2016 will focus on the Battle of the Somme, Russia’s experience on the Eastern Front and the war in northern France as illuminated by new archaeological discoveries. Raytheon’s sponsorship will also provide financial support for the development of a new module, planned for 2017, in the Museum’s gallery devoted to recent conflicts.

The Canadian War Museum is Canada’s national museum of military history. Its mission is to promote public understanding of Canada’s military history in its personal, national, and international dimensions. Work of the Canadian War Museum is made possible, in part, through the financial support of the Government of Canada.
