Brew Donkey is once again selling local brewery tour tickets (and at a discount!)

Two weeks after announcing they’d be offering craft brewery tours at no charge, Brew Donkey (“the Company”) has been advised that, effective immediately, they can resume full operations while they work with the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) to become compliant under the Travel Industry Act .

TICO President and CEO Richard Smart and Vice President of Operations Dorian Werda met with the Company at Ottawa-Centre MPP Yasir Naqvi’s office on Monday, June 1st to work towards a resolution. “We feel encouraged following our meeting” says Brad Campeau, Brew Donkey owner and operator. “Although we were not able to resolve the matter today, we are hopeful that we will be able to find a reasonable and compliant solution that satifies both parties”.

While the interim agreement is a positive one, Brew Donkey still faces substantial loss of income and ongoing legal expenses throughout this ordeal and will continue its Indiegogo campaign through to June 18th. Pledges to date have been incredible, with 34% of the $15,000 goal met, however current losses far exceed this amount. All funds raised will go directly

to bridging this gap and supporting the local companies visited on these tours.

Additional tickets for June tours that were listed at no charge will be released at 11:00 EST on June 2, and all newly posted tours will be offered at a $15 discount until June 18

th

to show the Company’s appreciation for the support it has received.

This conversation regarding a compliancy issue has caught the attention of the Ministry

of Government and Consumer Services, who is

responsible for overseeing the Travel Industry Act. It is the Company’s hope is that this will open a dialogue with the goal of finding a place in the regulations where individuals devoted to promoting local tourism can safely operate.
