Bluesfest ticketholders to get free transit (kinda)

_ (press release) _ Ottawa, May 24, 2016 – This is to confirm the details of a new five-year contract between RBC Bluesfest and OC Transpo. This agreement will mean all festival ticket buyers will have public transit included with their purchase (includes OC Transpo buses, trains, and Para Transpo service).

Existing ticket holders who bought their tickets/passes before

June 1

will be able to ride OC Transpo to and from the festival—three hours before gates open and two hours after the music stops—without paying a fare for the day(s) their tickets are valid. For those who buy tickets on or after

June 1

, there will be a $2 fee added to their purchase to offset the additional transit costs.

“This is great news for ‘fest fans,” said RBC Bluesfest executive director Mark Monahan.  “Whereas in previous years RBC Bluesfest pass holders would pay upwards to $50 to attend multiple days of the event, that fan will now pay a flat fee of $2 and will be able to ride public transit for the days their tickets are valid. This is a winning formula for festival fans and also meets the goals set out by the City.”
