** LIGHTING UP: ** During Christmas Lights Across Canada , Parliament Hill and other area attractions are lit up with over 300,000 lights. This year’s illumination ceremony is at 6 pm on Thursday, and the lights will be up until January 7. We went to last year’s illumination ceremony and got some terrific photos. There will also be free hot chocolate, and a performance by Montreal’s Nadja.

** PARTY: ** For 38 years, the Carleton University School Of Architecture has played host to an event so infamous, it was noted by David Letterman as one of the top 10 campus parties in North America. Formerly known as “Kosmic” this party is now dubbed “Milieux” .  With an amazing assortment of musicians, art installations, and other mind bending audio/visual displays, I can safely say this party lives up to its reputation. For the first time the event is being held in the Aberdeen Pavilion on December 1st, 2011. The grand historic space of the pavilion provides an interesting environment to transform with dream-like exhibits of props, sound and light. The proceeds of the event will be donated to Architecture for Humanity; a non-profit organization that provides architectural services to the global community.
