Top 30 selected in search for new voice of Ottawa Radio #JUMPSGREATESTGIG

Since early March, JUMP! 106.9 has given aspiring broadcasters the chance to achieve instant radio fame with the station’s “Greatest Gig On Earth,” a nine-week search for the new co-host of their morning show.

Over 160 hopefuls uploaded their submission videos before the April 2 deadline, each looking to land the coveted spot alongside current breakfast show host Tony Stark.

“I am absolutely floored by the reaction! And I am positive Ottawa’s next radio star is in this competition… don’t touch my shoes!” said Stark. “We launched this search in hopes of finding a total radio newbie – someone the entire city will love listening to. We’re extremely confident that he or she is in our top 30.”

Upon submitting their video, participants were given a series of tasks to complete on social media – further proof the advent of social media has opened the door to finding on-air talent in new, non-traditional ways.

With the field narrowed down to 30, the station is encouraging everyone to vote online for their favourite. Videos

ecording artists Shawn Desman and Kardinal Offishall.”

Online voting closes at noon on April 9, narrowing the field down to the top 10. A live audition process on April 19, featuring a celebrity panel of judges including celebrated Canadian singer/songwriter Karl Wolf, will then whittle the participants down to 5 and 3, respectively. The winner will be announced on-air on Friday, May 8.

Listeners are encouraged to spread the word using #JUMPSGREATESTGIG.
