The NCC invites proponents to develop detailed proposals for LeBreton Flats

The National Capital Commission (NCC) is announcing today the proponents who will be invited to propose plans for the future of LeBreton Flats, one of the largest and most significant development sites in the core of Canada’s Capital.

Of five (5) proposals submitted in early January and evaluated in accordance with the criteria outlined in the Request for Qualifications document, four (4) prequalified proponents will be invited to develop detailed proposals. In alphabetical order, they are as follows:

 1.
a) Claridge Homes proposes indoor and outdoor concert facilities, cultural enterprises surrounded by green spaces, and residential and commercial developments.

 2.
b) Devcore Group proposes a concept with multiple cultural institutions developed around a grande allée, green spaces, and residential and commercial developments.

 3.
c) Focus Equities proposes to house the headquarters of an international organization, accompanied by cultural venues, green spaces, and residential and commercial developments.

 4.
d) Rendez Vous LeBreton Group proposes a major event centre for sports and entertainment performances, complemented by green spaces, and residential and commercial developments.

Each qualified proponent will receive a financial contribution of $75,000 to prepare a high-quality design proposal and financial plan to be submitted to the NCC in November 2015.

These teams will compete to imagine a world-class destination for all Capital visitors and residents, an inspiring place that demonstrates design excellence and innovations.

The subject site for redevelopment is 9.3 hectares in the heart of the Capital, with option lands consisting of an additional 12.3 hectares.

The NCC expects to announce the successful proponent in mid-2016.
