The latest skating conditions on the Rideau Canal

It’s official - the Rideau Canal Skateway opens on Saturday morning . The section between the Bank Street Bridge and Pretoria Bridge (the east side of the Glebe) will be open for skating at 8 a.m.

A great website for tracking current skating conditions is canalconditions.com . You can also follow them on Twitter at @canalconditions where they post a daily update at 2pm.

And by the way: as @ottguy pointed out, what happened to the whole “10-14 consecutive days of freezing weather before we open the canal” thing?
